DHL Parcel UK has received six all-electric 16-ton Volvo trucks, which will be launched in London in March 2023, and 74 LNG Volvo tractors, which will be put into operation later this year. These two deployments are part of the UK's investment of 640000 euros (20.5 million pounds) in the green heavy fleet, which is in line with the sustainable development strategy of Deutsche Post DHL Group. This marks another important step forward for DHL to package the UK decarbonization plan and the commitment of Deutsche Post DHL Group to achieve net zero emission logistics by 7 years. On the way to achieve this goal, the Group will invest more than 203 billion euros (<>billion pounds) in sustainable fuels and clean technologies in just six years. The conversion of DHL's pickup, delivery and long-distance transportation fleets into electric or sustainable fuel solutions is an important lever in this regard.Peter Fuller, CEO of DHL Parcel UK, said: "Our goal is to stand at the forefront of the road transport reform in the UK. Having zero emission electric vehicles in our last mile heavy-duty fleet is an important step towards our vision of net zero logistics-related emissions.

The 16-ton Volvo FL electric rigid car is powered by four 200-kilowatt-hour batteries and can travel 120 miles. It can carry more than 12 pallets weighing up to 6 tons. These will be charged overnight at the strategic DHL package location in London for daily operation in the city center.

Because these are zero emission vehicles, they will not emit any carbon or harmful emissions into the atmosphere. They will also meet the three-star standard of London's direct vision standard, have excellent all-round vision, and support the safety of all road users in London.

Once the commissioning of the Bio-NG storage tank is completed, the driver has received the training on how to refuel safely, and 30 new Volvo FM series LNG tractors will be located at the DHL Parcel UK hub in Coventry. Each tank has a range of up to 400 miles, and they will be used for routes throughout the UK. When using Bio-NG for operation, compared with the traditional diesel engine with the same power output (85bhp), the CO2 emission of the LNG traction device is reduced by 2%.
