DHL Supply Chain is a contract logistics company in the Americas and is affiliated to Deutsche Post DHL Group. Today, DHL Supply Chain announced that its transportation digitalization strategy has made more progress. These advances include the establishment of new partnerships with Convoy and Turvo, and the implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) - all of which will enable DHL Supply Chain to provide its customers with a higher level of service.
Convoy's digital freight network and Turvo platform will work with my supply chain – DHL's proprietary end-to-end visibility and business intelligence solutions.
DHL Supply Chain is a third-party logistics supplier cooperating with Convoy, which is a nationwide digital freight network and focuses on solving problems in the 800B freight industry through connecting freight companies and shippers to transport millions of trucks of goods. DHL has directly integrated Convoy's carrier network into their supply chain application, thus providing access to Convoy's automatic real-time pricing, enabling shippers to benefit from increased capacity within a guaranteed coverage.
Both Convoy and DHL emphasize more efficient transportation of goods, and this focus constitutes the backbone of our relationship, "said Brooks McMahon Convoy, Vice President of Partnership. "Now DHL can easily access Convoy's automatic real-time pricing and security capacity, which can be flexibly adjusted according to customers' needs."
DHL Supply Chain also cooperates with the real-time collaborative logistics platform Turvo to promote the context visibility and collaboration of the entire freight end-to-end lifecycle. This will enable all parties to view and take action on the same information at the same time.
DHL Supply Chain's team is also integrating robotic process automation (RPA) into daily operations. RPA uses software to automatically perform repetitive tasks, such as collecting delivery documents, arranging loading, event tracking, etc., to reduce human errors and improve speed. DHL Supply Chain in North America used RPA to offset more than 5000 hours of manual work, while globally, it saved more than 30000 hours each year during the pilot period. Before RPA, many basic daily tasks need to be completed when capacity permits. Now, they can be completed quickly and accurately, so that our employees can spend less time on busy work and more time on strategic value-added work they like," said Jim Monkmeyer, president of DHL Supply Chain North Transportation. "Turvo is another important complement to our digital work. It provides easier collaboration and transparency for shippers and carriers. By improving our cooperation in the entire supply chain, we can improve efficiency and customer service at the same time.
According to a recent DHL report, companies increasingly regard transportation as a tactical commodity, and now 71% of companies regard it as a strategic component of their business. Three quarters (75%) of the companies believe that investing time and resources in transportation will directly help their companies sell, and 63% of the companies believe that big data and artificial intelligence will support tools such as the digital freight market to achieve more intelligent transportation operations.Mark Kunar, Executive Vice President, said: "We have been thinking about surpassing today's shipments. So as we continue to actively implement our supply chain digitalization strategy and expand our transportation capacity, the partnership with Convoy and Turvo enables us to accelerate our plan."
